Gum Recession Coverage

Do you have thin gums or exposed roots and wonder what can be done about it?

Have you been told you have ‘shrinking gums’ but never given any real information as to what you can do about it? Book a consultation with us.

Using Technology to Monitor

What we see in dentistry is a snapshot in time. We believe in monitoring our patients closely over a long period of time to determine what is stable, what is worsening and how quickly things are progressing.

We take a full set of photos as well as a digital scan of your mouth to compare to! For those with bone loss we can also take a 3D scan of your bone to more accurately track your bone levels.

Recession Coverage

Recession coverage is a dental procedure designed to treat gum recession, where the gum tissue recedes and exposes the roots of the teeth. This condition can result from aggressive brushing, periodontal disease, or natural aging. Recession coverage procedures, such as gum grafting, restore the lost gum tissue or strengthen the remaining gum tissue.

The aim is to guard from future recession, protect the tooth roots from decay/erosion/abrasion and reduce sensitivity. Soft tissue appearance is often improved. By addressing gum recession early, patients can prevent further damage and maintain a healthier, more balanced smile.

Labial & Buccal Frenum Removal

Labial and buccal frenum removal, also known as a frenectomy, is a procedure to treat an overly tight or prominent frenum—small bands of tissue connecting the lips or cheeks to the gums. When the frenum is too restrictive, it can cause spacing between teeth, interfere with denture fit, or lead to gum recession. A frenectomy involves gently removing or reshaping this tissue, allowing for improved function and oral health.

This procedure is minimally invasive and heals within 14 days with very little discomfort. Benefits include reduced risk of gum recession from muscle pull, improved comfort, better oral hygiene, and enhanced orthodontic or restorative outcomes.

Gum Improvement Around Implants

Gum improvement around implants focuses on enhancing the health and appearance of the gums surrounding dental implants. This is crucial for long-term implant success, as healthy gums provide a secure foundation and protect the underlying bone. Studies have repeatedly shown that having enough good quality, attached gum around the implant protects the implant from muscle movements and allow proper seal.

Procedures such as gum contouring, soft tissue grafts, or periodontal therapy can address gum deficiencies, inflammation, or recession near implants. These treatments not only improve the stability and function of the implant but also create a more natural and aesthetic appearance. Advantages include increased implant longevity, better oral hygiene, and lower maintenance dental work.
